I'm not sure to understand this bug. Why are you speaking about language packs ?
Does it solve the issue to install one ?

I thought this would be interesting because it cuts the number of error by alot.
There should be aport of some kind of tie in between debconf of locales with
installing language-pack-en.
But this problem I think is not related to gedit but gtk apps because it went
away a couple of days ago and now it's back with an
added bonus that doesn't allow be to log in. I was able to get to a stage where
nautilus was active but little else but after a long wait.
Gedit is a perfect candidate be cause it works, abeit after a long wait. And
i'll send you a other trace now.

I don't understand the bug. Is that related to the langage pack for you ?

No the language-pack thing was only extra info if you were interested, and
because it was a part of the trace I did origally.
This bug should propably not a gedit bug, but a more general gtk problem but it
affected gedit first so I thought it was a gedit
bug but when I loged back in it had affected everything. But it fixed it self
after an upgrade, but has now arissen again after an
other upgrade and seems to be the same bug. And gedit is the only application
that I have the patians to trace.

do you have a loopback interface working correctly (ping localhost) ?

if "I sudo ifup lo" it works. So it has something to do with the net not being
initialized.
