Thank you for your bug. Clicking on "Change profile" and selecting one in the combo list work correctly on gutsy. Did you try to do that?

I haven't tried it in Gutsy.
I noticed one important thing.
The popup window appears also when I delete one of default profiles (eg. mp3 profiles, Flac, etc.) every time I open sound juicer, no matter if I choose Exit or Change profile (as you wrote).
The only way I found to fix it is to recreate the same identical default profile (same description, same name etc..)...

Do you select an another profile in the preferences dialog after getting the issue?

When I select Change profile, it pops up the preferences dialog with the first profile in the list already selected.
Then I close sound juicer and when I open it again the issue reappears.

It doesn't appear only if I select another profile (eg. the second one in the list).

But this can't be applied to default profiles.
I mean, when you delete a default profile, select another profile doesn't fix the problem.

not confirming, selecting a profile in the list works fine here on gutsy

if I delete a default profile I get the dialog asking if I want to quit or select an another profile, I selecting an another one works correctly, sound-juicer starts just fine on next run without asking anything

I'm getting this dialog too, but the list of profiles is always empty. Even if I add a new one, it doesn't show up in the list, although it is visible in gconf-editor. All the predefined profiles are empty in gconf-editor. Sound-juicer is totally unusable in gutsy for me.

The profiles are empty in rhythmbox too. The list shows only my new profile (mp3), but the combobox remains empty, so I can never select a profile.

I do have all the needed gstreamer plugins installed.

Somehow my gconf tree was corrupt. I deleted the system dir there, and the profiles were restored. Now sound-juicer starts up, but still can not rip (or even load) the CD. Will open a seperate bug for that.

could you try if that's still an issue in hardy and describe easy steps to trigger the bug?

This bug seems to be fixed in Hardy.

I can still reproduce this Bug #138396 unfortunately.
