esword will not launch

I installed Ubuntu Christian Edition (Linux) for the first time yesterday. One of the first tasks was to install esword, which I did, but when I try to launch esword nothing happens. So I opened sword Module Manager and was able to install bible, maps, etc. Tried to launch esword again and nothing happens. I tried to reinstall esword and that did not help.
