Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. I confirm this bug. When starting tribe 3 from the live cd, i decided to test my sound by running ubuntusax.ogg. The program crashes immediately with this message.

same here, just installed and got all updates, tried to play a mp3, installed both options in the codec installer thing, totem crashes on every mp3 now (didnt work anytime i tried)
