Bug Description

I just installed 7.10 alpha 2 and cifs shares that mounted fine in 7.04 fail with:

root@BrainIac:~# mount //redeye/shared /home/shared -o username=dalem
Password:
19277: session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)
SMB connection failed
root@BrainIac:~# mount -t cifs //redeye/shared /home/shared -o username=dalem
Password:
mount error 13 = Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs

Any suggestions are very much appreciated,
Dale E. Moore

Thanks for your bug report. We need some more information to determine the cause of your bug. Which system is the share on, a samba server or windows (which one)? Is this share in a domain or do you use a domain user? If yes, please use the domain mount option. If not, please try if the option username=redeye/dalem can solve your problem.

It's on a Fedora Core 5 machine that's been the SAMBA server for some time.
There is no domain configuration.

The (a few hours ago) previous Ubuntu 7.04 mount that worked had the same
command line options.

I hope these answers are helpful!

Oops Dennis,

root@BrainIac:~# mount -t cifs //redeye/shared /home/shared -o
username=redeye/dalem
Password:
mount error 13 = Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs

root@BrainIac:~# mount.cifs //redeye/shared /home/shared -o username=dalem
dom=DaleHome.local
Password:
mount error 13 = Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs

Is there some way I can turn on a more verbose debugging to better isolate
the failure?

Metta,
Dale E. Moore

i feel this might be related in some way.

yesterday i upgraded my server to gutsy rc. since the machine ran samba shares, i copied over my old share info to smb.conf.

the rest of the machines still run feitsy, mounting the server shares via fstab as cifs. i now get permission denied on these shares when i attempt to mount -a.

mount error 13 = Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs)

even if i try to use mount.cifs i get the same permission denied error.

no, after resetting the smbpasswd and restarting the daemon, it ran fine... i suspect though that we need an easier way of managing samba users...

if you get error 13 you must update you kernel at least 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5.

and trouble is solved.
