blender stalls with enabled GL desktop (gnome-compiz-manager)

Bug Description

I instaled Blender 2.43 version from Synaptic Package manager, previous to gnome-compiz-manager also from Synaptic.
When i have GL desktop enabled, i can't work with Blender since it stalls, and required to disable Gl desktop.

I have the same behaviour with compiz/fuzion or what ever it's called just now. For me the reaction is even worse - it logs me out and takes me back to the login screen. I assume this means it's restarting the GI

I should clarify that I'm using Gutsy Tribe 3.
