Bug Description
Binary package hint: apt
Under vmware in fesity I did a debootstrap of gutsy to a separate virtual hardisk and later booted from it in a separate virtual machine.
Currently i cannot install aptitude, because is depends on libapt-
Adept is also affected because it has indirect dependency on debtags wich depends on libapt-

Woohoo, I have a similar situation. I seem to have killed synaptic and was trying to get it back using the command line. I get this error message:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
Depends: libapt- inst-libc6. 5-6-1.1 but it is not installable
Depends: libapt- pkg-libc6. 5-6-4.4 but it is not installable
synaptic:
E: Broken packages
I have been trying to figure this out on my own but I am not a Linux serf (much less a guru or a god).
I am pleased to see this but as I believe they are related. I am running the AMD64 version of 7.10.
