This is actually the desired behavior due to the legality of the codecs needed to play these files. Ubuntu can not ship with these codecs but it is possible to install them, please see: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats . I am closing the bug report because this seems more like a support request which is found at answers.launchpad.net
