Bug Description

Whenever I load Kubuntu (or any other version of ubuntu) i dont get that nice loading bar thing, instead i get a boring black screen so I don't really know if its loading anything or not. This happens with Ubuntu 6.10 and 7.10, couldnt test it on 7.04 because there was a bug with my hard drives.
Anyway, both load correctly but since I dont get any screen I really get nervous because I don't know if its loading or not.

I use a Pentium 4 and an Intel 845 GPU.

PD: This happened both in live-cd and installed Ubuntu's.

What happens when you boot in 'recovery' mode, do you see boot messages on console?

Its a desktop... and yes, i see messaages in recovery or when using the
live-cd when i remove the splash quiet options...
