Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

In firefox, by default a touchpad horizontal scroll triggers the Back and Forward commands.
Furthermore, the direction of scrolling - when it does function - is the reverse of what it should be (moving finger left on touchpad scrolls right, and vice versa). Currently, this is solved by changing mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action from 2 to 0 and mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.numlines from -1 to 1. Could something be done about this? I'm using the Synaptics Touchpad driver with two-finger scrolling enabled.

Cant this be changed in either /etc/X11/xorg.conf or by running sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg? maybe look at options in there, Is this issue only effecting firefox or do you get same results using epiphany, konq, kazehakase

I can confirm this bug in gutsy. Having set
        Option "XAxisMapping" "6 7"
        Option "EmulateWheel" "true"
        Option "EmulateWheelButton" "2"
in xorg.conf, horizontal scrolling works fine in all other applications using my touchpad/trackpoint. The problem is only in firefox.
It would be nice if the default settings in about:config were adjusted in the package.
I can also confirm the fix suggested in the description.

Are you still able to reproduce this?

It's no longer an issue in Hardy. I don't know about Gutsy.
