Bug Description

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

In feisty, flashplugin-nonfree installs documentation, symlinks, directories etc., but not the actual plugin itself.

This looks like a regression to #77116 and #50284, because I was able to watch embedded flash content 2 or 3 weeks ago, but I'm not able to do so any more.

Yes, I can confirm that. This happens because recently a new flashplayer version has been released. Gentoo already uses the new version.

Sorry, I said Gentoo has resolved that, but in fact they are still trying to solve that. See:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=185141
The main reason is upstream changing the tarball without changing its name. Maybe people from Ubuntu and Gentoo could look at this issue together, because that's a common problem for both distros (and probably also Debian and others).

Seems confirmed via user comments, thought I think this is a dup of another bug.

Please dont mark confirmed until we have all info needed. What version of flash? are you getting md5sum errors when trying to install? other than flash not playing what else makes you think the plugins are not installing?

the gentoo link you gave is the same issue that bug #125986 fixes as its upstream CVE change. Ive been gone for a week so i havent gotten to look in feisty to see if it was pushed to security repo or if still in -proposed
