Description: The GNU Image Manipulation Program - DEVELOPMENT VERSION
The GIMP lets you draw, paint, edit images, and much more! GIMP includes the functionality and plug-ins of other
famous image editing and processing programs.

If you'd like to use a MIDI device as an input controller in GIMP, install libasound2 and read the how-to at
 /usr/share/doc/gimp/README.MIDI

This is the UNSTABLE DEVELOPMENT VERSION of gimp. It should not be used for production purposes. File formats may
change without notice, gimp may crash, and you may lose data. If you need stability, do not install this package,
use the 2.2 version from testing/unstable instead. If you do use this package, it is highly recommended that you
install the associated gimp-dbg package as well, so that you can produce meaningful bug reports if needed.

There's nothing to be done in Ubuntu. libgimp-perl is the current upstream release and is not compatible with the current GIMP. Feel free to contact the GIMP developers about it.

In which sense is the plugin incompatible? When forcing it to install, it works perfectly with my conchars.tga maker plugin. Also, note that Scheme is too limited to be able to do the functionality of this plugin - I actually first tried to do it in Scheme, but gave up when I found that it provides no way to convert ASCII->character, and that literal extended characters (with bit 7 set) don't work. So I really need this library and can't understand why you still keep it broken. Can't you tell WHAT is incompatible, so it maybe can be fixed?
