Not a bug,t he change is documented in the changelog:

gnome-session (2.19.5-0ubuntu2) gutsy; urgency=low

  * debian/gnome-session.gconf-defaults:
    - don't display the splash screen, it's slowing the login

Ah sorry.

That's a pity, i love splash screens :)

Anyway, i removed my /usr/share/gconf/defaults/10_gnome-session ;)

the right way is not to remove the default file, it's rather to use gconf-editor and set /apps/gnome-session/options/show_splash_screen

You're right, although i have to do this procedure for all accounts in my machine.

And, for those accounts that already have logged in, simply remove that file has no effect.

you can set a system default using gconftool, removing 10_gnome-session is of no use until you run update-gconf-defaults, like the schemas the defaults are used only at installation time to write values in the system directory
