Short mpeg clips don't play properly in movie player

Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

When playing sample clips from websites movie player shows the first half second then goes black. the sound is fine. if I click between full screen mode and back about 20 times I can then see the clip. It is really not something I had experienced before.

I have just started running Ubuntu and could not find any information on this issue. It worked fine for the first 2 weeks then just started doing it. I have updated every time update manager has shown available updates.

As I said I am new to Ubuntu and I do not believe that I have ever heard of compiz. I have only loaded the packages that are available through the UBUNTU mirrors. in the add programs menu. Thank you for any help. and thank you for answering my bug report..

Yes I have been but if you think that using desktop effects is what is causing the issue I won't.
