Bug Description

I just installed the latest updates to the Ubuntu 7.04 box; which has been running well until today. The cursor just sits on screen after reboot, ctrl+alt+f1 gets me into the console but the graphic login screen does not appear(Instead the cursor just sits there, and I'm unable to access my apps. Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this issue?
