This problem is caused by errors in the brscan2 package, which is not part of Ubuntu. To get it fixed, file a bug report with the creators of this package.

As for removing the brscan2 package, see http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-425941.html (especially the reply by "rawpigeon") for a possible solutions. If you still can't remove it then, try asking a question at Ubuntu's support tracker https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu.
