Every time I try to remove brscan2 with synaptic I get E: brscan2: subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 1 message and it will not install updates

This problem is caused by errors in the brscan2 package, which is not part of Ubuntu. To get it fixed, file a bug report with the creators of this package.
As for removing the brscan2 package, see http:// ubuntuforums. org/archive/ index.php/ t-425941. html (especially the reply by "rawpigeon") for a possible solutions. If you still can't remove it then, try asking a question at Ubuntu's support tracker https:/ /answers. launchpad. net/ubuntu.
