Bug Description

I installed gutsy to my hard disk, so that i can dual-boot it with feisty.
But when I tried to play my music which are on sda3 (mounted in /media/sda3/) it fails to play, this happened to both FLAC and mp3 files, I don't have any other file types so i cant test them.
And when i tried to play the file in totem I didn't get any sound, but i didn't get any error reports either.
I have installed restricted-extras meta package.

Then i tried to go to "System -> Settings -> Sound" and see if I could get some sound playing from there but i got an error report stating this:

"audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Internal GStreamer error: state change failed. Please file a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=GStreamer."

Exact same problem here.
Integrated Nforce2 sound card and I don't have TuxGuitar installed.

Please try this on a terminal:
$ asoundconf reset-default-card

I remembered that I had the same problem when updated from dapper to edgy. Just tested again and it appears to be the exact same bug on the instalation process.

Yes, seems software mixing don't work under Gutsy.

I noticed that, than I open Second Life. Can't get no sound then, neither in SL, nor in any other app like Totem.

Got this error message:

"audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Internal GStreamer error: state change failed. Please file a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=GStreamer."

Matias tip don't work. But I've got a fresh install of Gutsy anyway.

Under Feisty I have no problems with that.

What happens if you use alsa? Try running

gst-launch audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! alsasink
