Bug Description

After suspend, I had a rather enjoyable bug today. Windows are framed in black, and the window buttons are censored out.

Pictures speak more than a thousand words, so please check the screenshot.

Same for me. This happens very often when coming back form suspend or hibernation on my fresh install of 14.04 64 bit
(using nvidia 331.49)

Workarounds:
* restarting unity
* suspending again

Same for me. Even various menu popups have the thick black frame around, e.g. main menu or the one for right click. I guess the black frame is the space where normally should be translucent window shadow.

I use:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218M [NVS 3100M] (rev a2)
Using NVIDIA binary driver - version 331.38 from nvidia-331 (proprietary,tested)

I have the same issue with GeForce 9800M GTS/PCIe/SSE2 using NVIDIA binary driver - version 331.38 from nvidia-331 (proprietary,tested)

An alternate way of getting rid of the black bars is to go to a console (e.g. Ctrl + Alt +F1) and come back (i.e. Ctrl + Alt + F7)

Ctrl-Alt-F1 and then Ctrl-Alt-F7 solves it temporarily.

Thank you for your bug report. Is that still an issue? That seems more a problem with nvidia drivers for some specific cards. Does it happen if you turn off the binary drivers and use the nouveau ones?
