Bug Description

Drawing spaces for every line all the time is a little overwhelming. But, Sublime is super smart and draws spaces for selected lines. We should be smart too.

Upstream question: why is it useful to draw spaces only for the selected text?

In sublime i can see if the selected text uses spaces or tabs and how many levels of indentation is present.

In the attached screenshot you can see that on line 48 i use spaces other lines are using tabs

FWIW I personally prefer to see all the indentation in the file just in case it's inconsistent (which, sadly, happens rather often). So please keep an option for showing all the whitespace symbols in Scratch.

One reason that someone commented on the upstream bug is that "The reason that I see is to be able to know exactly what is copied or deleted." Another reason is that, as Dan pointed out, showing all whitespace all the time can be overwhelming, but showing whitespace in highlighted text is a handy way of checking the whitespace when and where you need to.
