Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

After a network outage, when I go to restart the network by invoking init 1, or /etc/init.d/network start, my network is still down. I am unable to use the internet, or ping other networks, I have to restart Ubuntu in order to get networking started.

This is a wired eth0 syskonnect pci-e card, that I use for connecting to the network.

I am on feisty, I do have samba installed with a root password, if that makes any difference.

This could be a repeat of bug 45696 as it seems to have a very similar problem according ot some of the posts on that bug report.

wee finally untangled ifupdown and network-manager as of network-manager 0.6.5-0ubuntu13 ... so this issue should finally be fixed. If you still see this (latest gutsy - livecd?) pleaes reopen.
