You have to install using Feisty alternate. Once the install is complete, and X has failed to start, then:

sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-ati
sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.sav
sudo sed -i 's/vesa/ati/' /etc/X11/xorg.conf

It didn't work with Ubuntu 7.10 RC(Live CD). Maybe it still doesn't support.
