Bug Description

This is a marketing task. Consumer Reports evaluates consumer products for the US market. A very, very large number of people in the US make major purchases only after consulting the magazine. This is especially true for purchases where they know little about what is being purchased, but even for more knowlegeable people it's a first stop in evaluation:

Slashdot is currently showing that CR has published a report on computing activities and problems. A write up of the announcement can be found at Network World:
   http://www.networkworld.com/community/node/18117

Unfortunately the write up suggests that the articles are only about one particular brand. Running one of the (*)Ubuntus would get rid of many of the complaints listed. Getting a look at the article would be useful and can be done by someone in the States with a subscription or near a public library.

Making sure that CR mentions Ubuntu and its derivatives would go a long way in both marketing Ubuntu as well as easing the problems of most US-based home users.

You can see from the 2006 report the probably style of the upcoming 2007 report:

Apparently USD $5,200,000,000 in MS virus damages annually could be prevented by moving to Ubuntu.

OK. Each project is different. Some use their ticketing system for dealing with specific tasks.
