Following the sbuild page on the debian wiki (https://wiki.debian.org/sbuild) I tried to setup a system that would test build packages for sid and trusty. When I enabled piuparts (by editing ~/.sbuildrc) I've noticed that piuparts tries to use saucy. A quick look at the source made it obvious saucy is hard-coded if ubuntu is detected. I think that for trusty, we should at least update the default.

The attachment "hardcode trusty instead" seems to be a debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. If the attachment isn't a patch, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the "patch" tag, and if you are member of the ~ubuntu-sponsors, unsubscribe the team.
