Bug Description

Binary package hint: okular

Package okular (0.5.82-0ubuntu3) is uninstallable in gutsy because it depends on libpoppler1-qt4, which is no longer in gutsy repositores. Instead it is libpoppler-qt4-1 (0.5.9-0ubuntu1) which I suppose is a renamed version of the former.

Also package libgs-esp8 cannot be found in gutsy, but libgs8 is there.

Sarah, you fixed the bug in 0.5.82-0ubuntu4, which FTBFSed back in June. You stated in the changelog that it is KDEs fault, is this rectified now or are changes to okular needed? (I.e. could it be requeued?)

it's still busted. We're planning to grab a new upstream snapshot at some point.

One way to circumvent this dependency bug is to install the following packages from the Feisty repo using »dpkg -i PKGNAME«:

kde4libs-data_3.80.3-0ubuntu4_all.deb
kdelibs5_3.80.3-0ubuntu4_i386.deb
libpoppler1_0.5.4-0ubuntu8.2_i386.deb
libpoppler1-qt4_0.5.4-0ubuntu8.2_i386.deb

Then you can install okular just using »apt-get install okular«.

Is anyone still working to resolve this issue? I really dont want to install all those Feisty packages... im afraid to confuse the package system even more.

Gutsy has ended its supported life, so a fix will not be made for this particular bug. (It should not be an issue in more recent versions of Kubuntu)
