[gutsy] /usr/bin/id crashes with segfault

Bug Description

I booted the Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) desktop install CD with no problem. Once Gnome started, I got a complaint that something had crashed. Clicking the icon that this warning came from, I discovered that /usr/bin/id did it. I opened up a terminal and typed "id". This returned "Segmentation fault (core dumped)". This is very serious.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have been unable to reproduce this bug using coreutils version 5.97-5.3ubuntu2. Which particular version do you have installed? You can check with 'dpkg -l coreutils'. Thanks in advance.

This was from the Gutsy Gibbon Tribe 3 pre-release live CD.

I am unable to reproduce this using the Tribe 5 Live CD either. Could you please try reproducing the bug with that version of the Live CD?
