Yep, noticed this too. As I really don't have time to look into it
(/usr/bin/acroread is quite complex) , a simple workaround, although it's an
ugly one, is to modify the first line of /usr/bin/acroread and replace
/bin/bash by /bin/zsh (of course you'll need zsh), or run zsh /usr/bin/acroread
directly.
Cheers

OK, thanks for the workaround.

By the way: I also cannot start acroread from the menu in gnome.

Here is a possible patch for /usr/bin/acroread which should fix this issue (the regexp that detects the gtk lib doesn't work, and the script is stuck in an endless loop).

Hi,

This issue should be fixed with the 7.0.9-0.0.ubuntu0.7.10+medibuntu1 package, could you retry please?

Well how do you get Mediubuntu to work for Gusty?

echo "deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ gusty free non-free" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
wget -q http://packages.medibuntu.org/medibuntu-key.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add - && sudo apt-get update

Doesn't appear to work:

Now my auto update has picked up the new version and it works without problems. No need to edit /usr/bin/acroread any more.

brettalton, note that the distro's name is "gutsy", not "gusty".

So the commands to enter are

echo "deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ gutsy free non-free" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
wget -q http://packages.medibuntu.org/medibuntu-key.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add - && sudo apt-get update
