Bug Description

Distribution: 14.04
xubuntu-desktop version 2.180

After logging out of an xubuntu session two user processes are left running:

UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD
osd99 3872 1 0 12:17 ? 00:00:00 xfce4-power-manager --restart --sm-client-id 2545ef3de-f0a8-49fb-90dd-25467f5
osd99 3903 1 0 12:17 ? 00:00:00 /usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1

strace tells me they're both waiting for something:

root@wocbox:~# strace -p 3872
Process 3872 attached
futex(0x7f4b8853a590, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 2, NULL^CProcess 3872 detached
 <detached ...>
root@wocbox:~# strace -p 3903
Process 3903 attached
futex(0x99ce54, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 1, NULL^CProcess 3903 detached
 <detached ...>

I'd expect logout from a GUI session to kill processes like these.

Are any of these packages installed?

overlay-scrollbar
overlay-scrollbar-gtk2
overlay-scrollbar-gtk3

If yes, does removing them resolve the issue?
