Bug Description
Binary package hint: blender
Ubuntu 7.10, installed from Tribe 3 alternative CD.
Set 'System > Preferences > Appearance > Desktop Effects' to 'Normal Effects' or 'Extra Effects' and start Blender. Same behaviour for Google Earth.
My system logs me out and restarts X.

running compiz (desktop effects) with 3d applications is knowen to be buggy, lots of applications will work slower and some will just not run at all. this will hopefully change in the future with certain xorg developments but for now it is recomended to just disable desktop effects before running 3d applications
