Bug Description

Binary package hint: dolphin

Dolphin does not process the help:/ kio properly. The error it displays is:

Malformed URL
help:/kubuntu/about-kubuntu

It does however recognize that about-kubuntu is a HTML file as it displays a huge HTML meta icon in the top right corner with about-kubuntu right underneath it.

My suggestion would be to have Dolphin automatically open Konqueror or KHelpCenter when it comes across the help:/ kio command. Preferably open Konqueror over KHelpCenter.

That's not a bug but a missing feature.
Gutsy is currently feature frozen, so we might reconsider this for gutsy+1.

This is still applicable for the KDE 4 version of Dolphin. It'd be nice if somebody could report this feature request upstream at bugs.kde.org and post a link to the bug here.

This is a WONTFIX.
You can not expect Dolphin will launch konqueror (even is it manage some kioslaves) as you won't expect writing help:/ in amarok to launch konqueror (Amarok also manage some kioslaves).
If you want to launch whatever application is better for help:/ and you don't know what's it is, then you should use krunner.
We can write a bug in KDE but it will be closed as WONTFIX.
Currently dolphin will show a message stating that help:/ is an invalid protocol, IMHO this is the perfect response.

Uh, upstream *confirmed* this bug. The author of Dolphin did, in fact.

I have just committed to KDE code to launch konqueror on unsupported protocol.
The notice in the statusbar now is "protocol not supported by Dolphin, Konqueror has been launched".
The upstream bug has been closed with that commit

The status is fix committed until we release KDE 4.2 packages for Jaunty.

The upstream bug watch will change to fix released next time it grabs the status, so you don't need to do anything in regards to that.
