Bug Description

i encountered a strange thing when i tried to install the newest mlt in gutsy via synaptic: as the only progs, mlt and mlt++ have no version numbers even though they are shown in the list, and they are not installable. error report:

Es konnte keine installierbare Version des Paketes »mlt« gefunden werden, obwohl ein Eintrag in der Datenbank existiert.
Dies kann bedeuten, dass das Paket irgendwo als Abhängigkeit erwähnt aber nie in die Paketquellen hochgeladen wurde oder dass es veraltet ist und entfernt wurde. Es ist auch möglich, dass es nur über eine Paketquelle verfügbar ist, die unter »Einstellungen« / »Paket (... - no more text-).

i am unsure whether this is an error due to wrong packaging of the latest mlt or whether it has sth. to do with https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mlt/+bug/131413. i made a screenshot for you but there seems no way of attaching it here.

Hello,
That's not ubuntu-related. None of those packages are available in ubuntu. The _source_ package mlt produces several binaries (lib{valerie,miracle,mlt}0.2.4, libmlt-data and libmlt-dev, but not 'mlt'. Concerning mlt++, it's not in the archive yet. Therefore, I reject this bug.
Maybe this has to do with some third-party repo you use

Cheers

Btw, the packaging of the latest mlt version is not wrong. The one from your third-party repo is.

Changed in mlt:
status: New → Invalid

Oh. I have deleted all third party repos from my sources.list and unsinstalled the svn libmlt etc., but the two strange mlt entries are still there.

Any idea how to kick them out? And, besides, you know when mlt++ will be in the archives?

Thanks and good night

Did you run apt-get update ?

yes, via command line and via gutsy's gui update manager. works all fine, no error messages, but the two strange entries are still there.

life can be so simple: after apt-get update, synaptic was able to kick both entries out ("Zum vollständigen Entfernen vormerken -> Anwenden"). thanks for assisting.
