Bug Description
Kubuntu Gutsy 4 Alternative fails to install on a Dell Latitude C840 Laptop.
Have tried with two different cds, both of which verified, and one of which installed as a Virtual Machine.
First cd failed with message:
"Please insert the disc labeled: 'Kubuntu 7.10_Gutsy Gibbon_ - Alpha
i386 (20070808)' in the drive '/cdrom/' and press enter."
However, the cd is in the drive, and in any case, the cd drive won't open.
Second cd failed with:
"An Installation Step Failed:
Select and Install Software"
(Gnome) Ubuntu Gutsy Alternative Tribe 4 installs successfully.

I had a similar problem with hd-media and Kubuntu alternate too... /bugs.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ +source/ debian- installer/ +bug/133514

Perhaps you could try during install to switch to the terminal 4 (hit ctrl+alt+4) that displays error messages and give some more details...
see if errors are the same as in my syslog (see bug report above)
