Bug Description
Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22
In the newer 2.6.23 kernel a patch was done to update which family of processors were supported for powernow-k8. For users of Ubuntu with newer 64bit processors, when trying to use powernow-k8 they will recieve a message that their processor is not supported. With this patch from the newer kernel (see the diffs):
The family is updated, and those newer cpu's will have powernow-k8 work properly out of the box. I hope this small patch can be included in whatever next version of the Ubuntu kernel that's put out.

Unfortunately that patch does apply directly. There are a series of patches that would be required to be backported.
