Screen goes dark when switching to/from external power

Bug Description

I am running Kubuntu Gutsy Tribe 4 (64 bit) on an HP Pavillion dv6204. When unplugging (or plugging into) the laptop from external power the screen goes almost black, but the workspace is still (barely) visible (i.e. it's not simply going "blank"). It is *much* darker than I am able to get when using the Fn+F7 keys (dimmer).

When I press Fn+F8 (lighten screen) keys, the screen immediately lights back up to the lowest possible light setting.

If I close guidance-power-manager then the screen does not go dark, but I don't think this is a bug in guidance-power-manager. Booting into this kernal 2.6.20-16-generic and there is no problem.

Seems there is a problem in 2.6.22-9-generic.

This bug can be closed. The latest update fixed the problem. The new version of guidance-power-manager has sliders that adjust screen brightness, based on whether it's on internal or external power.
