Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee-daap

While searching through the database, banshee can take quite a while. I'm fine with that (my library is over 8000 items), but it seems that the query isn't asynchronous, and it freezes the UI. This results in me not able to pause the current song while it's searching for a possible next one. Tested on both a 2.4 GHz with 4 GiB of RAM and a 1.2 GHz with 512 MiB of RAM, so it doesn't seem that system performance plays a factor in this. I'm currently running Feisty Fawn with banshee v.0.12.1.

This is currently a problem. The new Banshee will fix this. Details here:http://abock.org/2007/06/27/my-hack-week-the-new-banshee. In the meantime, confirming this bug. (It doesn't seem to be reported upstream, but the lead developer obviously knows about it. :)

This should be much better now; can you test in the new Banshee? It is available on Intrepid, and on Hardy via the Banshee PPA: https://launchpad.net/~banshee-team/+archive.
