Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:

1)Upgrade a Feisty installation to a Gutsy one
2)Install and enable a compositing manager
3)If that works, disable it

At this point, X should freeze, and no longer accept keyboard input. Windows will appear as blank boxes on the screen.
The cursor is still able to move.

Version: Xorg 7.3

Tested with: xcompmgr, compiz.

Problem fixed by not using indirect rendering.

I suspect this is no longer an issue on Hardy, but if it is feel free to reopen with more details if it does. Make sure to include your /var/log/Xorg.0.log. It may also be worthwhile to collect a backtrace (see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing for directions).
