Bug Description
When testing a performance bug-detecting tool on pbzip2, we find two variables (QUEUESIZE, InBytesProduced) that are updated but not used, and a function call result that can be reused.
The corresponding patch is attached.

The patch looks good. (Some space -> tabs reformatting is needed but I'll handle that).
