Since I upgraded to 2.6.22-10 I can't get my speakers to mute when I plug my headphones in.
I tried using alsamixer and either both work or both are mute, there's no way to control them independently. My sound card is a STAC92xx.

There's no LFE support either.

Similar problem on HP nx7300. No sound from speakers, headphones are ok. Red light on the mute button is on.

The number of mixer controls is reduced to four:
$ amixer scontrols
Simple mixer control 'Headphone',0
Simple mixer control 'PCM',0
Simple mixer control 'Digital',0
Simple mixer control 'Speaker',0

L.S.,

I have exactly the same problem: no audio and the mute light stays on. Contrary to what is mentioned in issue 134206, it doesn't seem to be related to the snd_hda_intel module not being available. The file is where you would expect it to be ( /lib/modules/2.6.22-10-generic/ubuntu/media/snd-hda-intel ) and the module also seems to be loaded correctly:

gert@kiwi:~$ lsmod | grep snd_hda_intel
snd_hda_intel 355628 1
snd_pcm 94344 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm_oss
snd_page_alloc 11920 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm
snd_hwdep 12168 1 snd_hda_intel
snd 69288 12 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_hwdep,snd_seq_oss,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Gert

Rebuilding the ALSA modules, as described in 134202, fixed the issue for me...

I recompiled ALSA and now when i plug the headphones, the speakers mute.

I still have no LFE and i was left with a PCM that does absolutely nothing.
