Bug Description
7.04 installs on SATA, but won't boot on Intel DG965OT mobo
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Configure bios for SATA as IDE.
Install 7.04: requires 'break=top' early in boot string and 'irqpoll', 'acpi=off', 'noapic', 'pnpbios=off' late in boot string, then might require 'modprobe piix' at the error prompt followed by 'exit' at the next prompt. (as per http://
Then the 'Mount Removable Drives when hot plugged' and 'Mount Removable Media when inserted' and 'Browse Removable Media when inserted' checkboxes must be unchecked.
After reboot, go into LiveCD again to assure boot is checked.
Reboot cannot find any bootable media.
UBUNTU VERSIONS TRIED:
Xubuntu 6.10 (doesn't even install), Xubuntu 7.04, Ubuntu 7.04, Ubuntu Server 7.04
ASIDE:
If 7.04 is installed on an IDE drive, the partition flags must include 'boot' using the LiveCD->GParted after reboot in order to boot. This is not the case when installed on a SATA drive.
Intel claims that the DG965OT mobo has components on it for which Linux, in general, has no drivers.
