Volume distorts when on 100%

Bug Description

When I switch the master volume to 100% & play music in Rhythmbox or Totem (also with 100% volume) I hear a crackling distorted sound when I play music. The music is recognisable but the higher frequencies distort.

I have a Soundblaster Audigy 7.1 with the CA0106 (Alsa) driver .

Try to set the volume of "PCM" to about 80%, this is btw normal on almost any sound card
hope that helps,
stefano.

I don't have a PCM module to change.

Thanks for letting me know that this is a known issue.

All speakers have a limit when the volume is too high and they can't produce the wanted quality. Lower the volume or buy some high-end stuff.
