Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

Since gutsy now includes tracker by default, I would suggest some work to be done to integrate indexers better in Ubuntu.

Currently, you can go to Places->Search for files and Applications->Accessories->Tracker Search Tool.

The user has no way of knowing what the difference between these tools are.

I would suggest that "Search for files" be replaced with "Search".

This tool could be either gnome-search-tool or tracker search tool. However, to integrate it properly:

* gnome-search-tool should include a "Indexed" option to search using an indexer like tracker or beagle
* OR tracker-search-tool should include an option to search non-indexed locations

The latter is needed if the user wants to search a non-indexed location.

I'm not sure that "Indexed" is the best word to . Maybe other suggestions are better.

there is several bugs about similar issues open or closed on launchpad, I'm busy enough without starting to look for exact number, this should ideal be a specification anyway since that's not a trivial change

Changed in tracker:
importance: Undecided → Low
importance: Low → Wishlist
