Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Thanks in advance.

Pedro et al,

I have reverted to using Pidgin in 7.10 (which I think it similar to
if not the same as Gaim), and it has been behaving very well over the
past few months. I cannot recall if the change to 7.10 was
responsible, or if there were updates, but as of now the drops are no
more than 1 per month.
