Bug Description
Upon upgrading to Feisty to Gutsy:
My normal `alsamixer` screen was reduced to simple controls Headphone / PCM / Front.
Upon further research I believe this to be what happened:
`alsactl --help` shows "-f,--file # configuration file (default /var/lib/
Works fine:

So alsa will no longer acknowledge I have HDA-Intel installed. ( even though I'm 99.9% sure that is true )

snd_intel_hda is loaded, and not by me..
On a side note, when I upgraded to gutsy I went with package maintainers version of /etc/modprobe.
The non-technical effect is things aren't as loud, presumably because there is no longer a "Master" switcher, to go with PCM and increase volume.
