Bug Description

Upon upgrading to Feisty to Gutsy:

My normal `alsamixer` screen was reduced to simple controls Headphone / PCM / Front.

Upon further research I believe this to be what happened:
`alsactl --help` shows "-f,--file # configuration file (default /var/lib/alsa/asound.state or /etc/asound.names)"

Works fine:
root@x60s:/home/ecarroll/code/postgresql# alsactl restore -f /var/lib/alsa/asound.state
root@x60s:/home/ecarroll/code/postgresql#

Doesn't work:
root@x60s:/home/ecarroll/code/postgresql# alsactl restore -f /etc/asound.names
No state is present for card Intel

Doesn't work:
root@x60s:/usr/share/alsa/cards# alsactl restore -f HDA-Intel.conf
No state is present for card Intel

So alsa will no longer acknowledge I have HDA-Intel installed. ( even though I'm 99.9% sure that is true )

root@x60s:/usr/share/alsa/cards# lsmod

snd_intel_hda is loaded, and not by me..

On a side note, when I upgraded to gutsy I went with package maintainers version of /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and I'm not sure if one of the things blacklisted in feisty was keeping out some conflicting module, I do remember the replacement was shorter.

The non-technical effect is things aren't as loud, presumably because there is no longer a "Master" switcher, to go with PCM and increase volume.
