Bug Description

Binary package hint: kubuntu-live

AMD64 Sytem, MSI motherboard, Nvidia chipset, Maxtor HD as slave, /dev/hdb8 is reiserfs containing my most important data.

After Kubuntu Feisty Fawn Live CD boot and before anything is actually installed ot the HD, I look at "swapon -s" a realize, that besides two true Swap partition, the reiserfs is also mounted as Swap!
All my data could be soon irreparably damaged if I would not catch it soon!

Ths bug is more than security threat. It is a cunning hard drive wiping virus!

 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
 * Could you please include here the necessary configuration files (i.e. /etc/fstab)

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

This bug is reproducible and was reproduced 4 times, twice on Ubuntu and twice on Debian Etch.
Steps to reproduce:
- Have an old home partition from some previous (in this case Mandrake) instalation in Reiserfs format 3.6 with standard Journal ready on /dev/hdb8
- Check fstab /dev/hdb and it should have a line like this: /dev/hdb8 22116 24321 17G 83 Linux
- Start new installation o Debian 4.0 Etch or Ubuntu
- Choose manual partitioning.
- Select another partition as installation root
- Save partition selection
- Review new changes.
- NOW HERE IT COMES: THE /dev/hdb8 WILL BE LISTED AS SWAP PARTITION THAT WILL WAS FOUND AND WILL BE FORMATED. Bad joke, isn't it?
- Switch to the text console to see what packages ran lately and you shall see:
  "Partman: PV /dev/hdb8"
" kernel: ReiserFS: hdb8: found Reiserfs format 3.6 with Standard Journal"

 Setup files:
Partition table prior the problem on fstab /dev/hdb
/dev/hdb8 22116 24321 17G 83 Linux
This is correct. Swap partition would have type 82.

Sorry no-one got back to you, but there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release (Jaunty)? Thanks in advance.
