Bug Description

My speakers are not working properly. Noise can be heard while listening to music and volume is really down. I have tried all the solution listed on the forums, mainly about turning down Alsa mixers volumene but it doesnt work. My set up is laptop centrino 1,7 Ghz, 1024 RAM, audio chipset intel and ubuntu Feisty.

Specifying your processor and your amount of RAM does not help us with your sound issue. What kind of laptop do you have? What sound card do you have? Try your sound with Hardy and report back if it still doesn't work. Attach your lspci -vv then. Your problem is may be fixed by now. Normally I'd set this bug to incomplete but I set it to Invalid because of the poor quality of the report.

The laptop is a samsung R50 and the sound card is :
Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6
Family) AC'97 Audio Controller (Rev. 03)
With "ubuntu gutsy" the problem has been solved but the matter of noise
persists in "kubuntu gutsy." I would like to give a chance for Kubuntu so I
hope that Hardy be good. ;)
Thank you for your attention and specially for your work.

Are you sure that your speakers work fine? I mean did you try them in different OS? Please try Hardy.

The speakers work fine in windows. The problem is with kubuntu now, the
same noise and the volume level is not muted by the gnome-volume-control
when you low it completely. The difference with feisty is the sound max
level, in gutsy work fine. Anyway, i'll try ubuntu and kubuntu hardy
this week if you need a test.
Sorry for my poor english, hehe, i'm spanish.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?
