Bug Description

Binary package hint: tracker

I don't know if it is not yet possible to have this feature, but when using the search option in the open file dialog of gedit, or evince, there are no results
tracker 0.6.1-0ubuntu1

Someone on the mailing list told me that the only need is to compile
GTK with tracker support. Is it right?

support should be built into gtk for this already - no recompilation is necessary

it will dlopen libtracker.so if it can find it and use it automatically

the libtracker interface has not changed so not sure why its not picking it up?

it (libgtk) uses dlopen so I guess you cant tell with ldd

Ok sorry. To tell the truth, some results are shown, it depends of
what I search.
The first time, I searched for "pdf" and I got no resutls (while
instead from tracker-search-tool I get some results)
Now I searched for "bin" and I got some results. Especially only files
that are on my home.

So I think that the search box of gtk limits the results to the home.
In fact I did a test: I copied a pdf to my home and searched again
"pdf". This time the output was that pdf
