Bug Description

This is a little hard to explain, but here goes:

Whenever the hard drive is being accessed the system becomes very laggy, the mouse pointer will jump about instead of moving normally, programs will become very unresponsive etc.

It seems to depend very much on the way the disk is being accessed, if I copy an 800mb iso in to another directory it has no effect, but if I run dist-upgrade, when it gets to the stage where it is installing all the debs, i.e. dealing with lots of small files I guess, it becomes very unresponsive/laggy.

Are there any commands I can run that will give some sort of output that might make this bug report a little more useful?

Also, I am running gutsy and using compiz-fusion as gutsy defaults to. I have a nvidia graphics card. I believe that when I turn compiz-fusion off this problem goes away.

Thank you for your bug report.

Dan:
Can you include the output of running
cat /proc/interrupts
here please?

Created a new user account and this problem has gone away, must have been something I set when messing about with the compiz settings, as I know longer know what they were I can't possibly reproduce this, nor provide any useful information. I've marked the bug as invalid.

Thanks anyway Sitsofe Wheeler!
