[gutsy] oversized Evolution window

Binary package hint: evolution

When I have unread messages in Evolution the number is shown behind the directory. This causes Evolution to oversize the window (the [x] (Close) Button and the Scrollbar is not in my 1024x768 window, but right of it. So I can't access these items without marking all messages as read!

The same thing happens if I select more than one message.

The problem seems to be, that the left "navigation" with the v-Directories is resized in these cases. One time because the number of unread messages is shown behind the dirs and one time because in the top there is not only "123 total" but "123 total, 2 selected"!

This screenshot shows, how it looks like, when there are unread messages. I'm not able to resize thinks, so that everything is on the display. The number of unread messages doesn't matter, but there must be at least one ;)

yes, it is.
When I mark the messages as read and select only one the window resizes back to maximized mode.

Another interesting thing is, that I can't resize the left box. It just doesn't work.

I guess, that Evolution can't make the right box smaller and so is not able to make the left box bigger. When there are unread mails or more than one mail is selected, the left box gets bigger and can't be that small and the right box can't get smaller, too -> Evolution oversizes the window.

But now the question is: WHY can't Evolution make the right box smaller?

The right box is limited by the widgets to search in a message, that's a duplicate of bug #64538
