My computer (Acer Aspire 1501LMi) halts installing gutsy from alternate CD due to powernow_k8 not loading (max temperature reached)

Bug Description

Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 1501LMi (AMD Athlon 64 3000+) and I have found just impossible to finish a Gutsy Tribal 4 installation using _alternate_ CD. The problem is that powernow_k8 module is not loaded (nor exists on initrd filesystem), so CPU is working all time at full frequency. Aproximately after 5 minutes since the beginning of the installation, the system halts due to reaching max temperature limit.

I'm not sure if this problem can be considered a bug or just an evil interaction with my hardware, but I can also confirm that a friend with Aspire 1502LMi (same laptop but with AMD Athlon 64 3200+) suffers exactly the same problem when using alternate CD, so it would be great if you load the module during alternate installation.

Since you've reported a bug occurring in an alpha version of Ubuntu and you haven't updated this report I'm closing this bug. Please recheck with the final version of Gutsy or even better if you check it with Hardy.
