Bug Description
I noticed that the bottom edge component provides a "Add Memo" page and this same action is also shown in the app header. Is there any particular reason for this? If not can we remove the action from the header?

The idea was to keep the action in the header, since the bottom edge component seems not to be easily discoverable (that came out while testing the application with some of my friends). Also, one of the goals of the project was providing a note-taking application that works on desktop too, but it became difficult to target both Ubuntu Desktop LTS 14.04 and upcoming versions of Ubuntu Touch/Next/ [insert_ name_here] .
As for the first point, as you know (you also reported that bug, see #1357945), it will be fixed in the near future. As for the second one, recent commits to Quick Memo have surely broken compatibility with earlier version of Ubuntu Toolkit.
Bugfix will be release tonight, with version 0.2 of Quick Memo.
