Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-main-menu
Version:
Ubuntu Gutsy
Description:
Tooltips displayed for program launchers in "favorite applications" do not automatically disappear.
This bug is not fatal but tends to make gnome-main-menu annoying enough not to be worth
using due to reproduction method #3. It severely interrupts normal workflow because the user
must manually close a tooltip window every time an application is launched from the favorites
list.
How to reproduce:
3 different ways:
1. Open the "Computer" menu. Hover the mouse over a launcher until a tooltip appears.
Click to launch the program. The menu will close, but the tooltip will remain until you
click on it to get rid of it.
2. Open the "Computer" menu. Hover the mouse over a launcher until a tooltip appears.
Press the "esc" key to close the menu. The tooltip will not disappear.
3. (The most annoying). Open the "Computer" menu and quickly click a launcher. Well
after the menu has already disappeared, a tooltip for that launcher will *appear out of
nowhere*. This means you must wait for and then close a tooltip every time an
a program is launched.
Comments:
I would rate this bug as fairly severe due to the high annoyance factor in what is supposed to
be a more user-friendly main menu. I do not believe it is a GTK+ bug because I only see this
sort of behavior in gnome-main-menu.
I can confirm this bug. Installing SLAB from the latest SVN does not fix the issue. However, I don't think the bug is severe. An annoyance, but not a showstopper.
